The Photographic Art of Ariadna Cuadriello

Ariadna lives in Mexico and has been a photographer for 10 years. Her work can be found in magazines and has been featured in exhibitions in the US and around the world. Ariadna has two qualities that are essential to a great photographer, a curiosity about life, which comes from her love of nature and a love of art, which she acquired from her father. In this video we’ll talk to Ariadna and look at her work.

 How can I take better photos? This is a question I am often asked. When I first started taking photos back in the 1960's photography was an expensive hobby, that required buying film and the cost of processing. Today with modern digital cameras you can take all the pictures you want, and the results are immediate. Anyone can become a pro if you follow a few basic principles. Let's get started. Your subject is the main point of interest in your photos so your viewpoint, where the camera is placed, will have the greatest impact on your composition. Most people make the mistake of shooting from only their eye level. Look at your subject from various angles, high above, low angle, from the side, etc. Use your imagination and study your subject at different angles.    This statue of Jesus is a good example of various viewpoints of the same subject. The most powerful earthquake to hit Mexico in 100 years

A few minutes before midnight Lulu woke me up and said there's an earthquake, I felt it as soon as I woke up. We were just walking outside when it stopped, but only for an instant the next quake was harder. We could hear the windows in the house rattling, dogs in the distance could be heard howling, except our dogs, they just wanted to go back to bed. The hole thing only lasted only a few minutes. We turned on the TV but no news yet, the only thing on was pre-recorded news. It took about 30 minutes before the reporting started, that's when we learned it was better than an 8 in magnitude.  The quake originated in the Pacific, our house is about 370 miles NW from the epicenter. Today we learned dozens of people were killed. Homes and buildings were leveled, much devastation. We pray for the people that were affected by this tragedy.
